That’s right…after weeks of hard work and planning, we have finally arranged for the Consul General of Israel to visit UC Irvine. The event is this Thursday, February 28, 2008 at 6:30PM in Social Science Lecture Hall 100. Space is limited. We are expecting the room to fill, so arrive early if you want a seat. This event is being sponsored by Anteaters for Israel, Alpha Epsilon Pi (North America’s Jewish Fraternity), Hillel: Jewish Student Union, and Epsilon Phi (Jewish Sorority). It was made possibly through the generous help and support of the Consul General of Israel, Caravan for Democracy, Media Watch International, and the Jewish National Fund.

Jacob Dayan is the senior representative of the State of Israel in the Southwestern United States. Before assuming his post in Los Angeles, Mr. Dayan was selected to prepare a strategic plan on the feasibility of opening negotiations with Syria. Prior to this, he served as Chief of Staff to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Livni and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Silvan Shalom. Mr. Dayan also served in the role of Political Counselor at the Embassy of Israel in Washington D.C. and held the post of Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Israel in Athens, Greece. And, he served in the Department of Palestinian Affairs in the Foreign Ministry where he participated in Israeli peace delegations and served on several working committees. Mr. Dayan graduated Magna cum Laude from Tel Aviv University. He served in the Israel Defense Forces in a military intelligence capacity.

See you there!
