Students Peacefully Protest Anti-Semitic Speaker
On February 7, 2008, pro-peace students peacefully protested anti-Semitic speaker Imam Mohammed Al-Asi, who was invited to speak on campus by the Muslim Student Union as a part of their campaign titled “From Auschwitz to Gaza: The Politics of Genocide.” Al-Asi dishonored the nearly 11 million victims of the Holocaust by making the comparison of Israel’s defensive actions to the genocidal actions of Nazi Germany. The bogus claim was dismissed by the majority of listeners.
The speech took place at UC Irvine’ s Student Center terrace, an area most commonly used by students to eat lunch, wishing to be entertained by local underground bands or student dance groups.
AFI members and supporters held up signs reading “CAUTION: YOU ARE APPROACHING HATE SPEECH” as students entered the terrace. Other signs featured quotes which revealed Al-Asi’s desire to “annihilate the Yahud (Jews)”. During the Question & Answer, when asked by a MSU leader if the quotes were accurate, he boldly stated “Of course”, but later claimed “Yahud means Zionists”. The direct Arabic translation of “Yahud” is “Jew”.
Despite all the hatred, the protesting students remained positive and hopeful for peace in the region. One protester even dressed up in a pink monkey suit and offered “Hugs for Peace” to passer-byers.

The problem in the Middle-East is Islam. The Koran calls for the slaughter of unbelievers including “people of the book” (Jews and Christians). On his death bed, Mohammed (the self labeled “prophet”)cursed all Christians. They call for death and destruction of non-muslims and intolerant religions such as islam are not compatible with peace. This point cannot be made any clearer by attempting to find the muslim population residing in a Non-muslim nation entirely at peace with their neighbors. It does not exist and one cannot find it. We need to irradicate islam worldwide. Islam is the true enemy.
he makes good points. Israel needs to look for more peaceful solutions instead of brute force
the goal of Israelis is to live in peace, the goal of Palestinians is to destroy Israel… what kind of dialog is possible? Whole Arab world seats back instead of helping Palestinians economically they give them arms… noone in Arab world wants peace - they are religious fanatics, plain and simple. their religion is a hate and and a lie call it islam or anything else. True religion promotes peace, love and understanding…
